I usually use CorelDraw when developing logos. This software enables me to manipulate text easily. This winged logo for Rodriguez Auto Sales was rendered entirely in CorelDraw then transported into PhotoShop to colorize. When working on logos - I first work with black and white imagery to make sure the branding is strong as a one color design.

The logo with the blue background would make a nice business card! I like it.....
vistaprint.com is a pretty inexpensive way to pull off a four color - full bleed business card.
